Slack integration
Slack bots for your own staff.
Answer your team’s questions in Slack, collect their requests with forms, and keep channels posted from any flow — with a person one step away when a question needs one.
- Works as
- ChannelActionTrigger
- Connect with
- Your own Slack app for the bot; “Connect with Slack” for posting from flows.
- Events
- New messages, mentions, reactions, new channels and new members can start workflows.
- Checked
- Every request from Slack is verified with your app’s signing secret.
Three ways to use it
A bot, a messenger and a starting point.
A bot your staff talk to
It answers direct messages and messages in the channels it is added to, with buttons, images and forms. Answers come from your documents, and a person takes over from your inbox when needed.
Messages from any flow
Post an update or an alert to a channel, create a channel, look up a person or add a reaction — from a chatbot, a USSD service, a workflow or an AI agent.
Events that start workflows
A new message, a mention, a reaction, a new channel or a new member can start a workflow that does the rest.
What teams build
Help for staff, where they already work.
Answer IT questions from the IT handbook, and open a Jira issue when the bot can’t fix it.
IT help desk
Answer questions about leave, payslips and benefits from your HR documents, with HR one step away.
HR questions
Collect leave and expense requests field by field in Slack, and add each one to a Google Sheet.
Requests
Post each new referral, complaint or failed payment to the duty team’s channel as it happens.
Alerts
Every morning, post yesterday’s enquiries and where each one stands to the team channel.
Daily digest
When a WhatsApp conversation needs a person, tell the on-call channel who is waiting and why.
Escalations
In Slack
What the bot can do.
Everything your flow does on other channels, in Slack’s own buttons and formatting.

- Direct messages, and messages in the channels the bot is added to.
- Buttons and cards
- Up to five buttons on a message, images, and cards with a picture and buttons.
- Forms
- Asked one field at a time, with buttons for the choices.
- Your documents
- Answers drawn from your knowledge base.
- A person when needed
- The conversation lands in your team’s inbox with its history; replies go back to Slack.
- Replies in threadsComing soon
- The bot answers in the thread it was asked in.
- Only when mentionedComing soon
- In busy channels, the bot answers only when someone mentions it.
- Slash commandsComing soon
- Start a flow with a command such as /helpdesk.
- App HomeComing soon
- A home tab with what the bot can do.
- Satisfaction surveyComing soon
- A rating request in Slack when a person resolves the conversation.
Connecting it
Live in your workspace in four steps.
- STEP 01
Create a Slack app
In your workspace, create an app and give its bot the permissions the guide lists.
- STEP 02
Add it to your project
Paste the bot token, signing secret and app ID into the Slack settings of your flow.
- STEP 03
Point Slack at your bot
Add your bot’s address for events and for interactivity, so messages and button clicks reach it.
- STEP 04
Test and publish
Try every path in the simulator, then publish. The new version answers in Slack.
Questions
Before you connect it.
Do we need our own Slack app?
For the bot, yes: it runs as your app in your workspace, so it sees only what you allow. To post messages from flows, you can connect with Slack in a few clicks instead.
Can one flow serve WhatsApp and Slack?
Yes. A flow can be published to several channels, and each one gets the buttons and formatting it supports.
Who answers when the bot can’t?
Your team, from the Buni.ai inbox. The conversation arrives with its history, and each reply is posted back in Slack.
Is every request from Slack checked?
Yes. Requests are verified with your app’s signing secret before anything runs.
